Finding our Lead Singer

We then began thinking of who to cast for our lead singer. We needed someone who would be confident, sassy, fierce and also who could engage with the camera and have charisma. Additionally, because our song choice is sung by a black artist and the genre (R&B) is mostly associated with ethnic artists; we wanted a girl of an ethinc background who could match the vocals. This narrowed down our choices. We thought of casting previous students who had left the school, however due their university courses or location it would be a struggle for them to come back to the school (For exmaple Simy Murphy and Stephanie Amata). We then thought of casting students in school. Our problem here was to find a someone that could look older than they actually are because the nature of the song is meant for a young adult singer. Many other factors played a role in our desicions, for example the singer would need to be able to dance, lip sync well and have the diva attitude we were looking for.

As a result we decided to wait for the dance auditon and perhaps decide on a lead amongst the dance company girls.
