Explaining our Light Elements to Light Director

After hearing from George of all the different lights available, we discussed with him with the elements of our music video. He listened to our elements, and overall the lighting ideas we had in all three elements were deemed possible and realistic. We discussed the neon tubes and he told us that the department has neon coloured tubes that are in purple and red. However, we felt these colours would not fit with our colour scheme. As a result, we looked at the supplier online and found that they had light blue and pink neon tubes and these will be ordered for our shoot.

He did mention to us that our idea of having the title of the song 'Are You That Somebody' written in neon lights, would be too expensive. We came to the conclusion that if we used this idea we would need to purchase it ourselves. After researching online we found out that an individual neon letter would cost over £50 pounds this meant that to make the sign it would cost an estimated £900 pounds.

This would be too expensive for us to buy and if the department themselves did purchase it, it would mean that the majority of the budget would go just to buy the sign. This makes it an extremely unrealistic idea as it is not viably possible to have due to our budget.

In conclusion, most of our ideas have been accepted and will be practical for the shoot. However, due to monetary constraints we will not be able to have the neon sign for the music video.
